What inspired you to pursue public speaking?

Have you ever experienced a sense of being in a professional rut, despite having a satisfying job, and yearned for something more? That’s precisely how I felt. While I thoroughly enjoyed my job as a preschool administrator, I found myself craving a creative outlet. Once I began to channel my creativity, everything started to change! Though I never aspired to become an entrepreneur, my passion for children and children’s literature inspired me to develop interactive literary encounters that would leave a lasting impact. I initiated the fusion of books with theatrical performances and engaging activities, which I aptly called “Book Days.”

These immersive encounters breathed life into stories and nurtured a genuine love for reading. Several months down the road, I came to the realization that I had discovered something truly exceptional. It marked a turning point, and I was determined to pursue this path further. Little did I know that this program would have a global impact and that my creativity would lead me to become a dedicated advocate for emergent literacy worldwide. I am passionate about empowering others to leverage their creativity, enabling them to make a profound difference in their careers and their lives by transforming thoughts into actions and achieving accelerated growth.

as a public speaker, Who is your main audience?

Educators

What is a struggle you’ve encountered as a thought leader and how did you overcome it?

Being a thought leader has meant I’ve had to consistently bear the burden of the brand, through pitching and posts. Consistency has been key to showing up and remembering where I started gives me joy and inspiration for the future.

What is one of your proudest accomplishments so far in your public speaking career?

My TEDx talk this March!

What is a speaking career goal are you currently working towards and how is it going?

I am working to get my first paid keynote of $5k per travel and lodging. Right know I am trying to get my foot in the door with workshops while I continue to pitch keynotes. 🙂

What is something you love about speaking?

I love speaking because it inspires and impacts people’s lives. I know what I speak about is unique and adds a fresh perspective to people’s lives.

What tip do you have for people who want to write or speak?

Just start and consistently show up! Both speaking and writing can seem like huge mountains, but if you take them one step at a time you will continue to get your message out there.

What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?

Trust God and enjoy the ride!
