Meet Jennifer DePascale, who joined Mic Drop Workshop in July 2022 to inspire audiences to turn inward in order to find fulfillment in life. “I have so much passion reconnecting people back to themselves. It’s like I finally gave them permission to follow something they’ve been afraid to follow. It lights me up every time and its work I’ll never tire of.” We sat down with Jennifer to hear more about her speaking goals.
What inspired you to pursue public speaking?
I spent my life listening to what other people thought was best for me, looking outside for the answers, but I was always left feeling empty and unfulfilled. When I finally started to navigate through all the inner and outer noise and connect down to the deepest part of myself, I found my power and my purpose which has led a life and work that is fulfilling and purposeful. Now I teach others how to do the same.
as a public speaker, Who is your main audience?
College Students
What is a struggle you’ve encountered as a thought leader and how did you overcome it?
Believing in myself and finding the confidence to be who I truly am. I showed up everyday, taking the next right step, as guided from within, day in and day out, until one day I woke up and I found the alignment I had been searching for. It wasn’t an overnight success but rather I grew my roots deeper and deeper into my self awareness until I was so strong in who I was, that no storm could knock me down.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments so far in your public speaking career?
When a client or an audience member tells me how I changed their life or how I shifted their perspective on life. That provides the fuel to keep moving forward.
What is a speaking career goal are you currently working towards and how is it going?
To find more paid opportunities to speak and to write a book. It’s going well. I have a book outline and scheduled time mapped out to write it. As for the speaking, I’ve been using the tools from Mic Drop Workshop to find decision makers and connect with them
What is something you love about speaking?
Communication is one of my super powers. I love connecting with people and speaking allows me to connect with a larger group and impact more people. It’s what I was meant to do.
What tip do you have for people who want to write or speak?
For those at the beginning, just keep following that inner voice that has you curious about speaking or writing. Stay curious and keep learning and if you still don’t believe in yourself, keep doing the inner work until you have that knowing that this is what you are meant to do, then commit and move forward.
What advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Keep listening within. There are many experts in the world but nobody knows what is best for her like she does. She is the expert on being Jennifer and her inner knowing is stronger than anything anybody tries to convince her of.
How has the Mic Drop Workshop course and community helped you in your public speaking journey?
I felt clueless as to how to find and land paid speaking gigs and the workshop has really helped clarify something that seemed so daunting into manageable steps.
